Mineral : Bauxite

Bauxite is the principal ore of aluminum and consists mostly of a mixture of aluminum hydroxide minerals along with iron oxides and clay minerals. It has a reddish-brown, earthy appearance and a rough, porous texture. Bauxite is typically found in tropical and subtropical regions where intense weathering breaks down rocks rich in aluminum silicates. It is processed industrially to extract alumina (aluminum oxide), which is then used to produce aluminum metal.
