Mineral : Pyrite (Fool’s Gold)
Pyrite, commonly known as “Fool’s Gold,” is a metallic mineral with a brassy yellow hue and a crystalline, often cubic structure. It gleams with a striking metallic luster and is often mistaken for real gold due to its appearance, though it is much harder and more brittle. Pyrite forms in a variety of geological environments and is often found in sedimentary rock layers, hydrothermal veins, and coal beds. It is used in the production of sulfur dioxide and sulfuric acid and is popular among collectors for its striking visual appeal.
